Polaroid BurnMax40 not writing not at full speed

I've just bought Polaroid BurnMax40. I tried to write some data (600MB) on 40x blank CD (that came with the writer). It took it 12 minutes.

I was thinking my old mainboard might be the reason (2.5 years old cheap DTK mainboard) but I wanna find out if there's not a different problem.

I have the same problem but i have resolve it:
1 install your burner in a free ide interface without any other devices and set it as master.
2 enable DMA in system propriety for CD burner.
