polaroid burnmax 24 unternal ide 2410

I purchased a burnmax internal cd-rw 24x10x4ox about 6 months ago no drivers came with the burner as most donot. The burner worked fine in win 98se useing nero 5.5.8.2 and clone cd 4.0 .today i have a strange problem to resolve with it . The burner will read on boot up but now shows only compact disk in win explorer. Ive tried everything from new aspi to every burning software available on the market. The burner will register as being there but it is inaccessable .Ive burnt purhaps 200 cds some coasters do to my own fault. Is the life of a burner only 6 months or could the firmware be faulty?As for rebates from officemax i never received my 60 $ combined rebate for the things i bought and never will.My new liteon 52x24x52x works fine .When i purchased it for 67.42 at the local comp store The owner said he had never heard of burners made by them (polaroid).I'm at my wits end and I'm going to chuck it in the can unless someone can help me. A message to Polaroid and Office Max "Polaroid please stop making computer hardware and stick to cameras. Office Max Don't offer rebates if you don't intend to pay them. signed utterly pissed!!!!!
