I have an Opt 81C rls 4.5 and I need to point 911 to a regional dispatch center number which is a 10 digit number. I have tried creating a RLi and a DMI to strip the 3 digits and insert a 10 digit number. however, when I try to call 911 using the new RLI/DMI I get a fast busy. I have changed the SPN 911 to the new RLI but no avail. Anyone have any suggestions?

By chance are you using ESA, is LD 24 programmed? If not it's really pretty simple stuff. Is the user dialing 911 or 9+911

Yes I have ESA programmed. We are dialing 911 not 9911.

But I think you can modify the ESA programming to do what you want. Or remove the ESA programming and to the SPN of 11, create the DMI to strip 2 and insert xxx-xxx-xxxx and then build the RLI

The SPN wouldn't be 911 and then strip 3 in the DMI if your BARS access code is 9. It would be 11 and strip 2 and add 10

I do think that you can change DDGT in the ESA Data Block to do 10 digits however

Actually the DDGT prompt only accepts up to 4 digits, so you will need to remove the ESA and program the SPN 11

Also if you use OSN that will be lost if you remove the ESA, but I see no other way to send the 911 calls to a 10 digit number.

I have tried a few ways. one was deleting ESA and change the SPN 911 to a new DMI which stripped 3 and dialed a 10 digit number. I would get a fast busy. I tried modifying ESA but would not accept 10 digits. Now you mentioned removing ESA programming and to the SPN 11. do you mean to create a SPN 11 vice 911?

Thanks KCFLHRC!! it worked.. BARS/NARS can mess you up.

Your ESA block can be programmed to use an RLI instead of a simple route (ESRT). This will give you the flexibility to send the call however you want.
So when programming the ESA entry skip the ESRT prompt and it should prompt you for an RLI.
The RLI can have whatever route and digit manipulation table you want.
Not sure which release that was available but for sure on 7.5.
See Emergency Services Access Fundamentals guide, section called ESA Enhanced Routing.

The other option would be to set up ERLs in LD 117. That would require changing the ERL setting on every phone.

StanleySteamer - I am running 4.5. Apparently 4.5 does not give you the option to insert an RLI under the ESA load. I skipped ESRT prompt but it went straight to the DDGT prompt and it never asked for an RLI. So unfortunately I will not be able to use ESA. Thanks for the input though.

It might be easier to view all your networking data using the excel tool listed below.

It can get very confusing when trying to figure out what happens on outgoing numbers and what route or translation takes place. It's very easy to lose the plot.

This is probably why BARS and NARS was a 2 week course when I went. You can literally do about anything with it. However, you rarely use just a portion of what it will do.
