Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

My pointer (USB Trackman Wheel - Logitech) behavior changed suddenly. I don't know why or how to change it back. OS is XP Pro.

1) I cannot move windows by picking the title bar at the top. If I try to pick the title bar the window resizes to full-screen.
2) Occasionally I am able to make the window move, but once moved, the window closes.
3) I cannot select and move scroll bars. I can only scroll using the arrows or clicking in the empty space.
4) I cannot re-size windows using the typical corner/sides/top/bottom picks. The arrow icons appear, but I cannot grab and manipulate them.

I have reinstalled the drivers. I have restarted my machine as well as several full shutdowns. I have switched USB ports. I have cleaned my device (optic window and ball). I have checked my accessibility options and none are activated.

Any ideas??? Thanks so much,
Erik

Have you tried a different mouse to see if similar things are happening? That might narrow down the fix.

Cheers

The answer is always "PEBKAC!

Looks like your mouse button is on its way out. Try a different mouse and see if it works.

Well, dayummm. I look for a high-tech solution and Occam's razor slices right to the core of the problem. I changed out my trackball for a basic mouse and the problem I described is gone. Time to invest in a new trackball (much better for me for ergo reasons); I've been using this one for seven years. No wonder it's tired and no wonder I'm so used to it that I didn't even consider that it could be going bad. I even did a system restore before I read the suggestions to try a different device. Thanks for the replies: I owe you (both) a pint. An e-pint (?).

A purple star (click on the "thank xxx for this valuable post!" link at the bottom of each helper's post) is the equivalent of pint. :)

Cheers.
