I'm new to the networking side of things and was wondering if someone can explaine what some of the benefits would be going with a point to point circuit rather than an internet T1. eg... We have two offices of about 40 people each in CA. Our Irvine office connects to our main office here in Boston. We need to revamp the existing DSL network connection in San Fran with either a p to p to Irvine or an Internet T1. Currently we are using VPN over the DSL connection in San Fran to support that office. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you go with a point-point circuit, it will most likely cost more then the public internet circuit. However, it will be more controlable eg you can use QOS to prioritize services. This will also cost money, what I would do is get the pricing as well, get an understanding of how important the service is. Keep in mind that with Frame Circuits you pay for the circuit itself ie 256K and then the CIR(Confirmed Information Rate) this is your gaurenteed bandwidth if something was to happen on the providers network.
