I need to research adding this ability to our Macola implementation so I thought I start here and ask the question.

If you have implemented POS in Macola, what did you use and is it working as advertised?

Comments about cost, integration, installation and end user friendliness would also be welcomed.

Or reasons why not to use POS or a particular product should also be commented on.

Hope this isn't a big can of worms.

I went to a Macola Meeting about a month ago, and saw a demo of the next version of Macola Progression, due out this summer that has some POS built in. You might check around and see if anymore info is out there...

The progression coming out this summer is 7.6.300 with Peak's Best of OE now included. Their POS functions link with IC Verify & there are some limitations. If anyone has had great success with this, I'd like to hear. MIK POS had an integration to Macola I've looked at briefly. You could check them out & find out how many sites there are.

I don't consider Peak's solution a POS solution, just a credit card solution.

Fusion Retail is an approved 3rd party POS package for Macola. We have it at a couple of sites and my guess is this would be your best bet.

Unless something has changed, Peaks credit card solution is hardly a POS solution. what it does is integrated with the OE Cash application in OE, by submitting a transaction to IC Verify and then checking for a response every 30 seconds. Until it receives a positive or negative response it locks up OE. This means that it takes at least 30 seconds and in most cases 1 minute before a transaction is approved or disapproved and in the mean time the OE clerk can do no other work in Macola. Last time I worked with this Peak only supported the IC Verify dial-up solution which is slow.

This solution works well for some Macola users but gets a bit burdensome if the time consideration is unreasonable and/or you have to make changes and/or reversals of orders often. Peaks solution does not automate reversals and/or modifications of these orders.

Mik's product is called Fusion, 3 years ago they had 6 sites integrated w/macola. Don't know if they still exist, but it's worth a look. Let us know if they are still a viable option.

I don't know how many sites are using Fusion now, but I know of 3 personally, so I have to believe they have many more than 6 sites using it.

Please contact me and I can get you some references.
