How do I do a point in time recovery in the following situation:

1) DB backup taken 7pm Wednesday

2) Transaction log backukp taken 5pm Thursday

3) DB backup taken 7pm Thursday

4) Transaction log backukp taken 5pm Friday

How do I do a point in time recovery to 6pm Thursday

Hi
Can you give more explainations?

regards,
mohamdr

1) Recover the DataBase backup from 7pm Wednesday
2) Recover the transaction log backup from 5pm Thursday

You will lose the 1 hour of data entered after 5pm Thursday.

Perhaps someone can think of a way for you to view the DB backup at 7pm Thursday and restore entries between 5-6pm by using timestamps in your database. However that will depend on your database and DB software.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I'm using the arcserve mssql agent.

Using native mssql to do my backups - I can then use transact sql to perform the recovery to 6pm with no loss of data.

But I need to know how I can achieve this using arcserve.
