I have a directory that I want to point to a filesystem so the directory is not running off of root anymore. I looked in SMIT on how to do this and I did not see anything right off. Could someone help me with this please? I am running AIX 5.2.

Thank you.....

If I understand you correctly........

change the name of the directory

create a new empty directory with the original name

use this directory as the mount point for your filesystem

mount your filesystem

move the files from the original (changed name) directory into the new directory

delete the empty (changed name) directory

In addition

move the files from the original (changed name) directory into the new directory

Confirm that all files/links/permissions etc are as you would expect by maybe running with the new setup for a day or two[/color red]

and only then:

delete the empty (changed name) directory
