I am using Illustrator CS, I am needing to save a file as a .PNG with the layers perserved. I tried to export it to Photoshop and then save it as a .PNG from there but I couldnt figure out how to preserve the layers. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. THX

.PNG files don't support layers.
To preserve layers in Illustrator just save the file as .ai and whenever you need a .png version save one.

If you have fireworks you can save the file with layers as a PNG (the native format for fireworks) and the layers will stay when opened with Photoshop, but if you save from photoshop - no layers.
