Hi,

I would like to save some graphics as PNG and then import them into a PowerPoint presentation, as well as FLASH.

I am using PNG because I want high quality graphics with a transparent background.

My question is...how do I get the transparent background in Photoshop? Also,

When I click "save as" PNG, what do the different "filter" options mean?

My old Photoshop book has no info on this....if you can point me to a source for this info that would also be helpful. Thank you.

you wont get trasparency unless the actual file contains transparency. the filters are diffent levels of quality, try getting the smallest file for the best quality. Use the preview section of the save for web option.

Are you saying that the Photoshop file should have a transparent background and not a white or colored background....? Then when you save as PNG...the background will automatically be transparent. I tried that, and the background was made white by some default. I was disappointed. Am I missing something?

I guess I know what you mean regarding the "filter" options.

actually, i'm using the "save as" function. my photoshop doesn't have the "save for web" feature...for some reason. Why?

if its dim then you may need to change the color setting to RGB or something or take out the alpha channels, not sure really just play with it till save for web is not dim. If you dont see it in your file menu at all you may be running a LE version of PS.
