Hello,

I purchased a Partner system for the phones, price was great just for the phones. System included a fried ACS, three 206 cards and a PMVS.

Thinking about using the PMVS at another one of our offices, but they didn't include a card for the PMVS. I thought you had to have a card to make it work (2 port, 4 port, etc.) but they say it didn't have a card, and was working just fine.

Does anybody know if I am full of it, and a PMVS will work without a port card? If so, does it work in the 2 port configuration, or does it remember that it was licensed at one time for a 4 or 6 port configuration.

I think the Partner VM systems can be eaisly confused, this VM is a seperate card in the carrier, but not a Partner Messaging system.

Thanks,

Jeff

If it has no expansion card it it, it is configured 2X10

If I'm reading your post right you have a Voice Mail module with out the expansion card, it should be a 2 by xx and work fine, The newer Message vms needs the card not the older ones. The cards in the older ones are for making your voice mail bigger. For instance the VSR4 mail come as 2X10 without a card, the VSR5 comes as 2X48 with out the card.

Hope this helps

Which version of PMVS do you have?

PMVS release 4 included 2 ports and 10 mailboxes without any card installed.

Optional capacities with plug-in cards are:
2x20
4x20
4x40
PMVS Release 5 has increased options.

A brochure from the Avaya site compares the 3 different voice mail systems:
* Partner Voice Messaging R3
* Partner Mail VS System R5
* Partner Mail System R3
