Hate to sound dumb, but is there a rule of thumb that says the PMVS must always follow the last card in the carrier?
It seems to me that I remember being told by Avaya tech support that if it was installed between other cards and wasn't the last in line I would have problems. If I don't make it the last one what kind of problems might I see if this is the case?
Thanks

If you put it in the middle of the system it will screw will your dialing plan.

USUALLY it is in the last slot, but I don't think that it is mandatory. Just make sure that you account for the extensions properly when you are creating your voicemail hunt group. I think that it would cause more confusion that actual problems, if that makes sense to you.

I agree, the "hole" in the dialing plan isn't that great a problem. It would be nice if the VM was not between other cards for cooling reasons.

Not only for the above reasons, but just a rule of thumb. Just unassign your ports for hunt 770 and reassign the new ones weather its 2 or 4 ports. This will save you any goffy headaches.

Hey punchtool,
You meant hunt group 777 (not a Lengend / Magix). Actually, anyone can look at the system and figure out the proper ports. No matter where you stick it. I've had to install the VM in the first carrier of a full Partner II due to expansion card software issues. No probs, just not "normal". You will not have any programming problems with that release vm.

Sorry itpphoneguy,
Meant 777 your right know matter where you put the vmail card your loosing ext's from what ever slot you put it in.

To All,
Thanks for the info. I have one thats been acting up and doesn't want to come up on a reboot very easily. It sometimes takes several attempts to come up after a power interruption. I wanted to rule the slot config out as a possibility.
Thanks once again

That's the sign of a failing hard drive. Be prepared to find it not spinning up some morning, and having to replace it :(
