You need 35 hours of training as well. You'll be getting (at least I fully expect you will) a course materials book. With good note taking, it should form the basis for your "book learning." In my case, the PMP Prep course I took was a 5-Saturdays one. I paired off with a study-buddy and she and I went over the book of course materials each week and raised questions at the start of each class.
(You might also want to pose this question to the instructor.)
As for specific books, the PMBOK Guide is, naturally, mandatory. Mine is heavily notated with comments, underlines, etc.
Rita Mulcahy (sp?) gets many positive comments for her books.
ESI also has a book with sample tests. For questions where the answer source is the PMBOK Guide, it's excellent. For questions where the answer source is a different publication, I found it to be somewhat unhelpful. YMMV.
