What am I missing? I have tried various compress (or not) settings embed (or not) Acrobat 3.0 (or 4.0) export.

The only thing I cannot change is maybe the security setting - it comes out as standard rather than none though the standard has no encryptions checked.

The font in Acrobat is a code not a font. changing any text makes it invisible

Cresby,

Is the font you are using possibly Unicode? PM does not support unicode, it can only read the first 255 characters in the font set. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

I will check but I don't think it is, I saw unicode but tried so many things. PM7, Acrobat 4.02 (ish) Win98.

In desperation I tried to write via the pdf printer driver and lo and behold I get editable/findable text but no hyperlinks. No changes to other settings. It makes for a very long distillation and some very slow loading images - quality not noticeably different.

So two pdf's - Cut and past across in Acrobat serves but I have only tried the short books - the longer ones are 100 pages each.

I gave-up looking, and used the print > Pdf driver to produce editable text and cut and paste all 350 pages (several books)over to the hyperlinked pages.
Maybe I should load-up Acro5 but I am trying desperately to be as backward compatible as I can. I found to my cost that using Java excludes (effectively) all who use Acro3 - solution is to Acro4 on the CDROM and Autorun - but wouldn't ya know it, one friend has Acro3 on a Mac.

But, acrobat is a FREE download... so it is not too much too ask that people be somewhat up to date. Still using Acrobat 3 is almost inexcusable as 5 is the norm and we can probably expect 6 out in a few months. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
