Hi,

I have been a Junior Project Manager for a while now and would like to gain some certifications that may help to boost me to a higher position.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I am based in the UK so would prefer local country qualifications (unless there are any international ones out there).

Thanks!

If you're in the UK you should go for the PRINCE2 certification - you'll want to start with the foundation exam, and then move towards the practitioner exam. I have some material about this at (see May 9 and 10 entries), and if you need further advice I'll be more than happy to give it. For what it's worth, the PRINCE2 approach [in my opinion] is far superior to the US standard that is documented in the PMBOK - my entries explain what these terms mean. You might also want to check out for additional PM information (use the search feature), and

PMI ( is international, although having started in the US, it is still headquartered here and many of the officers and majority of the members are Americans (and lots of Canadians). It is the largest and also the fastest-growing professional association for PM, but I don't know enough about other PM organizations to make any qualitative comparisons. They claim to be putting a lot of emphasis lately and in the future to make it more attractive, available, and useful to non-North Americans, but by their own admission have a way to go.
