I have two laser printers on my wireless network. One is used to print laser direct plates for my printing press and the other for proofs.

PROBLEM: Pagemaker saves the last used printer info with the file, i.e. if I print a plate and then close, the next time I use this file and make changes, if I don't catch the destination printer and change it, I print my proof to a plate. Since the plates run about a buck a piece, I guess you can see my point.

QUESTION: Is there anyway to define a "default" printer setting that is always the same no matter which file is opened? Or, is there a way to keep the printer details from being saved with the file?

Thank you,

You should be able to define a "Printer Style".

Load up PageMaker but do not open any publication.Click File -> Printer Styles -> Define.

You should be able set a Default style or one of your choice you can select when needed.

However, it's so long since I've done it as PM's all but obsolete now, my memory may be incorrect. There'll be something in the PM Helpfile about it.
