g'day!! I recently installed an ATI Radeon X800XL (AGP)in my existing system(***See specs below), went through the normal new gcard install for ATI ( removed all prevoius ATI drivers, turned PC off, put new card in, made sure no AV or firewall runing on reboot, waited for "Found new hardware" pressed cancel. Ran ATI drivers downloaded from website, install was complication free, But..... every time I reboot it finds what I can only assume is my gcard??? if I cancel and go into display properties it shows the correct graphics card and drivers etc. ??? i'm lost any1 know how to see what the "found new hardware" is actually finding?? is it a registry enrty it finds on boot?? is it start up item in msconfig?? have I installed the card wrong? Thanks in advance to any1 who can shed some light.

***Specs are XP Home SP2[newish install, all usual windows updates, full virus checked from 3 different AV applications including 1 online, spyware checked pc runs fine, good FPS in all games], P4 3.0, Asus P4P800e deluxe, 1gb ram, 1 HD, 1 optical drive, half decent PSU, and other stuff not worth mentioning about.

Did this board have onboard video? If so did you disable it before installing the agp card?

Sometimes when installing new devices you have to do one of 2 things. First off after installing divers and you get that screen just click next till it finds what its looking for then click finish and it shouldnt come back.

Another thing ive seen is sometimes installation instructions ask you to let it go through the found new hardware wizard first and let it install its basic driver and then go behind it and install the new software/driver for it.

lol as for replying on threads at the same time it happens. Good to have people that help on here as the more people we have helping the bigger the knowledge for helping exist.
