Hi
We have in our site Linux server that acts as server for application called PLS this application/db receives from some sites packets processes them and store them locally.
The PLS admin complained that since we changed the server from old slow HPUX to new very fast/powerful Linux machine, he has some troubles.
The problem is that sometimes when the amount of packets from out is high, there are duplication in packets received and that's make problem to the PLS actions.
The PLS admin believes it is due to the fact the machine and LAN are very fast and the wan is slow.
Can anyone make this assumption as true?
I do think that the problem is not due to the power/fast of the Linux machine but in change of protocols in the application from HPUX to Linux.
(That is only assumption. It was not checked with the application vendor.)
I do believe that in the new PLS for Linux the use of protocol for transfer is UDP and not TCP.
May my idea be right or the PLS admin assumption is true?
Can anyone suggest better idea, solution?
Thanks in advance for any reply!
