I already set resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf correctly. I can use nslookup to solve url to ip & I can ping ip of any host in internet.
However, I can't ping url of any host and can't smtp to mail server.
I am having a similar Issue on my Solaris 8 (Intel), I have modified the resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf also the defaultrouter to point it to my gateway IP, I can browse the Internet if I know the IP address, I can NOT browse using domain names ie (Microshat.com) I am using a Server 2k to share the Cable connection and all my windows machines can browse with no problems.
Any Help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks It wasn't me, it was someone that looks a lot like me . . . .
The Host line in my /etc/nsswitch.conf reads:
host: files dns
I can't do nslookup sun.com, I get
*** Can't find server name for address 127.0.0.1: Unspecified error
*** Defaults servers are not available
