Pls Help - How to set up SMTP Alert in BrightStor backup 1

Dear all,

Does anyone know how to setup a SMTP Alert in BrightStor backup? I just added a new item under SMTP in the configuration and selected the "send a test message" buttion. It said that the message was send to the host. However, I never got the message. Anyone can help? Thank you in advance!

Sounds like your SMTP service is not configured correctly. Are there messages leftover in the QUEUE directory? Did you configure SMTP to relay the messages (requires a restart)?
 
Strange enough the version of the Alert Manager that comes with ARCserve v9 will not have enough functionality to use it for SMTP Alerts (you should be able to right-click the SMTP icon in the Alert manager and then configure it to configure the SMTP server settings but this cannot be done so your test messages will never arrive).
The solution for this lies in an eTrust antivirusfix. eTrus antivirus uses the same alert manager and this fix will install a completely new Alert Manager (version 7.0) that can be used with SMTP.
You can find this fix on :
Stop all ARCserve related services, rename or delete the Alert folder and reinstall Alert. After this you should be abel to configure Alert for SMTP,
