We are relatively new at using AutoCAD and are looking for a plotter to print size C & D prints. Can anyone provide input or advice on good/bad plotters, what factors to consider, etc.? Thank you!

HP DesignJets are very good, the one we have has lasted for going on 9 years without a hitch. However I would try to get a more recent version of it because of driver issues with Acad2k, It worked very fast with Acad14, but it is noticeably slower with 2K, not from when printing starts, just sending to printer time. I think they even have color now, but of course more $$$.

We use a HP 1055cm. This has handled all types of plots (A4 to A0), from mapping to advertising with ease. The plotter has a network interface so its simple to add it to the network. The speed is good, the quality is good and its simple to use, plus we've had no errors since purchasing it just over a year ago.

WE USE AN OCE 9400 FOR OUR PLOTTING. WE PLOT TO FILE AND USE THE OCE PLOT DIRECTOR SOFTWARE TO PLOT THE FILES. IT IS POSSIBLE TO SET IT UP AS A NETWORK PRINTER IS YOU WANT TO PLOT FROM DIFFERENT WORKSTATIONS DIRECTLY TO THE PLOTTER. IT PLOTS 30 "30x42" DRAWING SHEETS IN ABOUT 35-40 MINUTES. IT WILL PLOT ABOUT ANY PAPER YOU NEED. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE (BUT PROFITTABLE) MACHINE.

The Firm where I work we have a Hp 1055 Cm model and it never has let us down and works excellent with Autocad formats, R14, and up.

If you are taking votes, we use an OCE 9400 also. Excellent printer. We have had it for close to 6 years now. I believe you can pick them up used if you want. We have considered getting another used one to back up our Xerox 8855. They are like the old HP LasetJet 4's (they just keep printing).
