Hi,Anyone have any Idea's why this all of a sudden started happening,Don't matter what program I use to copy a dvd files or whatever on the dvd,IT read's the dvd almost all the way through and,The Blue-Screen of death..Dosen't even finish reading, never mind writing..Latest Firmware 1.09.This is like intermittent..Brand new drive, went from a 740a to a 716a. Ide drive.I', starting to get a bad feeling about Plextor DvD Drives?? Anyone know if this could be my drive?
May I should just return it,and get a better drive? and cheeper to.

I have two 712A and a 740a and haven't had a problem. It's more likely a driver or DVD burning software issue. What is the BSOD screen error message?

Machine_Check_Exception
Stop:0X0000009C (0X00000004,0X8053FAF0,0XB2000000,0X00070F0F)

I put this drive in on 3-7-06 everything worked fine, reading and writing ect.Till now.I have not installed any other drives or software since I put the drive in..Just started this today..Has been working fine for 5 day's.Only happen's when reading the dvd about half way through, don't matter what software,Alcohol 120,creating a image or copytodvd, same problem.only when reading it goes to blue screen....Works fine with cdr's reading and writing..Any Idea's how I can fix it?

Drive is a Plextor PX-716A Brand New,I'm also not happy the date on the drive is almost a year old??? 5-2005. I paid for a new drive, this one's almost a year old New? What do you think?

Hmmm... 0X0000009C errors seem to be hardware related. I would try replacing the IDE cable. If that doesn't help, replace the DVD drive.

Well,this is what I did.
1) shutdown pc ran plextor's self-diagnostic as per support online..used a dvd+ blank for the test.Passed diag.test ok.
2) I disconnected both drives on the secondary port,my plextor 716a burner [Master] and my Asus Dvd Player [Slave] on the secondary Ide Cable,my burner was in the middle of the cable and the dvd player was at the end of the cable [Slave].
3)Rebooted into Windows xp pro, with nothing on the secondary port,Ide cable.
4)Shutdown Windows.
5)Reversed Drives on the cable,Dvd player [Slave] in the middle of Ide cable, and Plextor 716A burner at the end of the cable,[Master].
6)Restart Computer.
7)Read And Burned 5 Dvd's so Far and no Problem at all,Working fine now???

Man I don't know weather to return the drive,or keep it.I always liked Plextor, never had this problem before.Seem's ok now, burning fast, and No BSOD.
Don't know what caused this to happen.never had to do this before, must have been a driver or something?
Whatever,Thankyou for the Idea's.If you have any Idea's why this could of happened let me know. Thanks again.
