other then the fire rating is there a physical difference in the cable??????????
 
the diffrence is in the material used for the sheath and the insulation no other diffrence that Im aware of
 
The difference is the construction materials used in the insulation. Other than handling characteristics, costs, ease of termination, etc. the difference is that the Plenum rated cabling produces a minimum amount of toxic smoke and gas when burned.
