Please someone help I get following message when running an application remotely on an rs6000 sp node. On this node I have installed open gl filesets from the AIX 4.3.3 disks, Do I need to set something else as this application needs opengl.

Here is the message:-

Invalid input style
FXApp::eek:penDisplay: unable to initialize input method
FXGLVisual::create: requested OpenGL extension not available.
Abort process

Help would be really appreciated.

You need a display which you haven't got on SP nodes.

Hi Henrik Morsing, I think I didn't make myself clear..., I am running remotely on a machine with the display from the node on a client/server basis with correct DISPLAY variable set.
Thanks for the reply and your help would be most appreciated.

I'm not really sure how OpenGL works. Does it run on the X server computer or the server??

Hi Henrik,

In OpenGL, a client is an application which issues OpenGL commands, and a server is a window system, such as X window system with the GLX X extension, where these commands are interpreted and finally displayed on your screen, the server and the client may or may not run on the same machine.
I am new to this as well! I am logging to the node via exceed x-server with glx x extension enabled! perhaps I need a another server? It seems to start before giving up with the messages above.

Thanks for your help

Hi AIXSPadmin,

Thanks for your link info, yes I do have an accelerator card that supports opengl but on a remote pc, the program is run from one the node on the RS6000 SP system, my control workstation only has entry level card GXT130p, therefore I am trying to get the display on a remote pc.

Many Thanks for taking interest
