I have (or had) a workbood with loads of code that I've been working on for the last 2 weeks. I have a back up of it as of 3 days ago, but I've done alot today and yesterday. I think that I copied some code and pasted it at the bottom of a macro...it was supposed to be temporary, but I accidently saved, closed out Excel and now I can't open it. I can't even open it if I disable the Macros.

Any suggestions would be helpful

Try searching the VBA visual basic for applications forum - or posting there. I think I have seen posts in the past that might help.

Thanks,

Gavin

a search for: "extract code corrupt" found several solutions. Those with the titles:
retreiving data from corrupt Excel bk
and
Excel File corrupted, rescue VBA modules?
look like possibilities for you.

Thanks,

I've had luck opening corrupt Excel files using Open Office (available at Open Office is free and has much of the same functionality as MS Office. In case you're worried, it's free of malware.

Once you have it installed, right click on the corrupt file, go to 'open with', and choose - you guess it - Open Office.

Once the file is opened in O.O., save it as an excel file with a different name. You might be able to open this newly created file with Excel.

Good luck!
