We use ARCServe6.5 and there is a DLT-Changer and a media pool of 9 tapes. No rotation (GFS).
Every night (before backup) the system reboots and the tapes are new mounted.
I make differential backup monday till thursday/custom schedule. The options for the first backup media are `append to media` and for additional backup media `overwrite same media, or blank media first, then any media`. When the first tape is full, ARCServe asks for another one (please mount new media) ...
I have marked the option for additional media `... then any` - why doesn`t it take any of the other tapes????

Any solutions? - THX!

Might be a media pool issue? If the additional tapes are not blank, they may exist in the arcserve database but outside the media pool associated with your backup job. if so they should be added to the scratch set of the media pool

Yes, scratch set may be the solution ... but I handled it another way. Did a job every 6 weeks for `overwriting` - it seems to be successful ...
Thanks anyway!
