I am having problems with my CDROM on a W2K machine. When you put a CD in and select the CD drive in Explorer you get the 'please insert a disk into the drive'. After a reboot it manages to see it and works fine......until the next time you try it that is. Any ideas as to why it is so tempramental? Is there some sort of volume manager that suddenly stops working by itself or is it more of a physical problem with the drive?

I had the same problem myself.. really long story short, I spent $30 and got a new one that was faster anyway! Of course that fixed the problem, but I really wish I would of just bought a new one in the first place.. "tis better to be thought of as a fool then open your mouth and remove all doubt" Mark Twain
