When Ever I try and open a form, I get an error message

"The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query '~sq_fEmployees'. Make sure it exists and that it's name is spelled correctly

The Employees is the form name and this just changes whatever form I open.

If I open it in Design view it will open. But I cannot make any changes! I have created new database's using the tables and re-created the form but the problem seems to replicate? Has anyone encountered this before.

Cheers,

John.

Hi johnharte

What is the name of the table/query that you are using as the record source for the form?

It may be that the table/query name that you are using '~sq_fEmployees' doesn't exist.

Can you find this table/query in your database ?

Hi Ziggurat

Yes, all the tables are there, and nothing appears to be wrong with them, I have imported them to a new mdb and everything works OK for a bit, and then this silly error replicates! Whatever form I try to open it just replaces the last word with the form name, ie. '~sq_fEmployment' for the employment form, and so on.

I've even re-installed Access ( Allot of time on my hands ) I dont really want to rebuild the database from scratch, as I'm now running to a tight deadline!

Thanks for replying! Hope you can advise further!

Hi...
Maybe I'm just being too elementary in my thinking, but did you ever do what Ziggurat suggested? That is, open your form in design view, look at the form property sheet, click on the "data" tab and make a note of the Record Source? You may have combo boxes, text boxes, etc., that rely on other queries (and/or tables); check the record source for each one. It seems that your form is calling for a record source that does not exist in your database. You may have deleted a table or query that you didn't need anymore, but your form is stilling seeking the information from that record source.
Was this form ever working? If so, then go back to your last backup of your db while the form was still working, and compare the list of tables and queries...

Dear John:
If you're still working on this problem, I'm quite sure now that the problem comes from the "Row Source" line in the property sheet for a combo box or list box on your form. It can happen when you copy a form from another or old db. Although you change the Data Control Source to reference your query or table, one or more of the controls has this "Row Source" statement that references a query or table that is not in your database.
