Hi, I do need to know how to ping the given computer by e-mail which was it sent from...
Please, help!!( if it possible at all???)
Thank you.

hhmm.. start with the domain..

like the email was from: billybob@redneck.net

You could try and ping to give the domains/web server IP addy..

then.. you'd have to successfuly hack their web server (if it's even kept at their local network) using the credentials supplied by the users email address, and then track down the users to a certain IP which is probably a private IP addy anyway so it won't make a difference, and to think the whole timed you'd be risking your freedom because that would be illegal..

so.. as far as I know.. it's not possible..

Hi Ivan

The best you could do is to determine the IP of the Mail server that send the e-mail. If they are using a Firewall with NAT enabled you would only get to the outside IP address, in other words their puplic/non-secure IP of their firewall.

If it is SPAM you are talking about you could take that IP and go to and determine who owns that IP block. Arin will tell you what ISP the person is using.

Then you do a traceroute to that IP make a copy of the offending e-mail and send it to the ISP. The ISP will contact the user and give him hell.

The first post was spot on to determine the IP address.

Hope this Helps
