Please help with crop/resolution 1

I need to crop some pictures that are already in 72 dpi to be used for web. I don't know what I am doing wrong but they look awfull when resized. Any idea??? Or better, any new idea about what's the best way to resize without damaging the image?

Can we assume that you have a 72 DPI pic that you are cropping a section of then wish to resize to larger?

If thats the case you will have problems with appearance.

If thats not the case can you explain with more detail just what you're trying to do?
