We have a MICS with 6.1 and a T1 that is connected to our private network and connected to a core site. The 24 trunks are programmed as auto-answer E&M trunks. We have about 20 phones at the site with an individual target line assigned to ring and appear on each set starting at received digits 401 through 421. The prime set for the system is 401, which inside the system is extension 221.

The problem is that no matter what extension we dial from our core site we always ring the prime set and never the one we are calling. It doesn't matter that the prime set only has one target line programmed on it, it answers for all of them.

I understand the purpose of the prime set is so that a call that has nowhere to go will end up somewhere, but I do not want calls to go to anywhere but where we dial.

We have even gone in on each and every target line and set the prime set for each line to not be the default 221 but to be the actual number we are dialing (401, 402, 403, etc.)

With each target line having its own received # as its prime set I don't see how on earth the calls are ending up at the system's prime set of 221.

Any suggestions or tips? Sorry for the long disortation.

Thanks in advance.

When you answer it on ext 221 make sure that is the target line and not the actual channel of the T1.

Have you confirmed the configuration of the received digits with your provider? If the received digits are not properly recognized by the MICS, it will send all DID calls to the prime set.

look at you recieved digits and target lines, make sure the prime set for each target line is the ext. that it should ring at.

As far as the received digits matching what the telco is sending-that is not an issue since no telco is involved. These are E&M ties between two of our own sites over our own transport. We are connecting the Norstar to a an Opt 81 at the other end and we are absolutely sure what digits we are sending to the Norstar. We have tracked calls and seen that the correct digits are being sent.

And to answer the other question, yes, we have made each target lines' prime set its own received digits number. If the recvd # of the target line is 400 then that is what the prime set is set to.

Calls still only ring the prime set. Even more bizarre is that even when we change the system's prime set to another extension, all of the incoming calls still go to set 221(the first port). Very strange.

I'm sure you do, but have to ask anyway. Do you have AUTO ANSWER turned on for the trunks?
