One of my friends computers (win98se) was cluttered with so many programs and illegal operation error messages were constantly popping up, so they asked me to help reformat the computer. But after I formatted the entire hard drive and did a clean install of Win98SE, illegal operation error messages were still poping up. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

describe the PC please, include system specs, including brand and build date

I can't remember the exact error messages, but after i ran any program, it would perform an illegal operation and i would have to restart the computer.

Hi,

Best thing to do is to copy the exact message from the error window, or at least the first row, that usally includes the module involved and on what section

i.e: WORD.exe have caused an invalid page fault on module WORD.exe at 088:11100000 etc.....

write the error and you'll get your answer in no time :)
