Please Help. Not very tech savvy and new on this site..

Hi. I hope someone can help me. I've recently bought a wireless internet card so that I can access the web. My roommate has a linksys router, and I'm able to go on most websites, but for some reason can't access certain ones. Mainly I have problems accessing my aol and godaddy e-mails. At times I've been able to get to them, but lately, never. Does anyone know why these pages won't load? Also, I have some security questions....Can anyone see what's on my computer and access what I have on it through the internet? Please help!! I need to check my e-mail!! Oh - and if anyone tries to help by sending an e-mail, I won't get it, so I guess a response on this website. Thanks !

Could your roommate be blocking these sites?

As far as seeing things on your computer... Do you have a firewall? (even the XP SP2 Firewall will work) Do you have file and print sharing turned on in your computer?

If you have a firewall and have file and print sharing turned off, you should be pretty safe.

Of course, if you manage to get spyware on your PC, you are vulnerable then.

Linksys routers can be set up to block certain sites at certain times of the day. Ask your rommate.
