I am really new to ASP and I have a series of ASP pages I want to display using my machine as the local host.
I have installed personal web server and created the directories but that is as far as I have got.
How do I now get IE5 to recognise the ASP pages and have them diplayed properly.
At the moment, all I get is the source code whenever I try to open up a ASP page.
The code itself is fine, I understand that completely but I cant diplat the page as it would look via HTML.

Thanks for any help

As far as I'm concerned, it's just a local file but as I am not familiar with IIS, I can't be sure.
At the moment, my computer name is 0247 and the webserver it telling me that my homepage is now Is this any help?

On a further note, I tries using my IP address and I get the same page with all the code in it. Still not diplayed properly.

Eradic8or, one thing I've learned while learning ASP's is that you must call the page and not actually open it whith the browser.

In other words, if you a have an ASP page that displays after you click on an proceedure ASP will show properly. But if you're trying to simple open the execution (ASP) page from the browser, it will not work and I think then you will only display the code not the action.

Your ASP page must be called from the original page.
I hope this makes sense. QUOTE OF THE DAY

Can't I have a hyperlink to the ASP page from my main page.
This is what I have but it does not appear to work.
I think I need a dummies guide for this one :)

Hi I hope this helps but this is what you can do or make sure you've done.after installing the personal web server.make sure you've created a virtual directory for your application. Then you specify a default page. The page which will open up in the browser when you type from there on i understand you will have calls to different ASP page from thereon.Hope it helps

Is the directory allowed to run script?

Have you looked at the samples that come with IIS? do they work? If yes then move your files into one of those directories. If they work you can be sure that it is the directory settings.

All my web server stuff is on my machine at work.
As I am now home, I will have to wait until Monday before I can try any of these suggestions.
I will keep you posted on any developments.
