Please help me with standalone!!!

Hi,

I really do need some help here. I know I am repeating myself from my last post a few days ago but no one has replied. Well here goes...
I am making a stanalone Flash application that will be on a CD for Mac and PC. There will be .bmp files and font files on the CD as well. I want the user to click a button on the application to save these files to their hard drive.

Please help me. I have no idea!!

Excuse me for asking... But why do you want the user to be able to save the files, through your movie, to his hard drive, if he already has the cd? Couldn't he just copy the files from the cd if he so desired?

The application is a standalone movie which takes over the full screen. I am duplicating last years application so I do not have the choice as to how it works. The application shows the pictures (and there are loads!) so you can choose which ones you want to download. Thats why. The application also allows you to choose colour versions of the pictures which you cannot download, you must pay for, via an ordering form that prints out at the end and can be faxed to the relevant place.
Now, can you help me? I have tried all sorts of forums to find out how to do this and nobody, and I mean nobody can help! I have had lots of people who have (bless them) tried to but it appears to be a BIG problem!

So... if you have the answers let me know, as I am now not the only one who wants to know. I have generated interest within all sorts of field!!

Sorry in advance, don't have a solution. And I'm loathe to submit this cos I know you'll probably say "heard it before" or "obviously i thought of that already"...but, there was a thread in early December 2000 from someone explaining how to 'write'[/] to a local file (I think it might have been Supra, Oldnewbie will remember). Now, my train of thought tells me that this guy might have the answer, as this thread was pretty complex in terms of programming and it does look like you're gonna have to apply a self-executable MS-DOS or VB-script, especially since you don't know in advance what the contents of the users c: drive is and you'll probably have to create a new directory. I've been checking the forums on here too and like yourself can't find a thing.

Thanks mate! Yes that is the only way to do it I think. I will have a look for that thread. The only thing is it must work on a mac as well, which VB script does not!
Bummer. I think I will have to do something in Applescript(ahhhh)and I am only a poor old designer!

you could use an hta (html application) these are just like webpages, only they have access to the users files and more. check out this url:

Thanks for your help theEclipse but I cannot use HTML (sorry in advance if that is not what you meant). It has to be a standalone, no browser required type thing.
I have had lots of help on this particular problem but still noone knows how to do exactly what I want. MENTAL. But fortunatly I now have a new job and don't need to continue with this project! RESULT.
BUT, if anyone does have any thoughts on it, I am sure that it would benefit all us Flash designers out there in code land...
