Hello, I am currently running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server. All is well with mail but clients get an error message saying this:

Task 'Cicrosoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x8004010F): The operation failed. An object could not be found.

I have traced this error back to the Offline address book. So heres the problem. Using exchange system manager I expand recipients, expand offline address lists, right clickt default offline address list and click rebuild. Then it asks if you want ot continue, I click yes. Then it comes back with an error that says:

Unable to creat the required MAPI profile. Please verify that you have sufficient permissions to write to the MAPISVC.INF file.

Exchange System Manager

No I am sure that I have sufficient permissions as I am the Domain admin, I checked the fule itself to make sure it is not read-only, and also verified that I do have the correct permissions to modify the file. Is there something I am missing here? I believe that if I can succesfully rebuild the address book, it we get rid of my clients outlook error as well. Any help is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I had a similar problem and found that the reference to the Offline Address Book on the Mailbox Store was empty.
After assigning the Offline Address Book (browse and found it), dismounting and remouting the Mailbox Store, the problem was resolved.

Here is the KB article I referenced and resolved my problem

Good luck
Trevor
