Dear Forum,
I have encountered a catch 22 situation. I have a machine with a Tekram dc-395U SCSI adapter and an appropriate HD. Now, when I try to install FreeBSD5.0 on it, the installation program tells me 'no disks found'.
I have downloaded the FreeBSD boor floppies from tekram support site and when I boot those the adapter and the HD are found just fine. However, those boot floppies are for FreeBSD version 4.0 and promptly refuses to install 5.0. I tried ftp install and from CDrom, both can't install the bin package.
Now, on tekrams site is an instruction on how to modify the kernel to make freebsd find the adapter correctly.
The Catch 22 is that I have to install the kernel first to be able to modify it.
How do I go about solving this?
Grateful for any help/pointers on this.
