I have created a document using Acrobat and assigned it a master and a user passward. I have forgatten the master passward, and I need to make changes to the document now. The original document has been since deleted, and I need a workaround or a way to get this file open in a way that I can work with it. Is there such a way and if so how?

Thanks in advance,

If you have Illustrator, you may be able to tweak the file.

Also, you might try opening it in an older version of Acrobat Reader(if you can find a copy of 3.0): I believe there was a bug in version 3.0 that stripped protection from protected PDFs>>> created in Acrobat 4.0 <<< when opened in 3.0.

Alternatively, there is a shareware app ("Advanced PDF Password Recovery") that can strip the master password off a PDF file if you know the user password. Checkout:

or,

The unregistered version will decrypt the first few pages of the PDF and leave the others blank. Otherwise it's $30 to register the personal version.

Cheers
