I'm using Arcserve 2000 and when I backup locally or in the same domain it works fine. When I go to do a backup of a machine on a different domain when it does it's estimating every file it see's takes a few minutes. In other words it would literally take days for it to estimate everyting on the servers. Can anyone HELP

Thanks

I downloaded and installed all that stuff but I'm trying a backup now and it's still going ultra slow. I found that when i backup a machine running win2k(OS on server) it goes fine when I try to back up machines running Win NT it's at a crawl. It also doesn't run on my snap server. Please Help

Hi There,

First rule of thumb is to rule out any network congestions that you may have to the servers in the other domain. You can do this easily by trying to do a standard file copy (try a large file like 100 MB or more) to the remote server and see how long this takes. If it is slow during a regular file copy through Windows Explorer then your backup can go no faster.

If you have ruled this out then try to perform a regular backup through the "Network Share" option in Arcserve and see if you get the same speed results. If this works, then try performing and agent to copy.

This will help to try and pinpoint where your backup may be bogging down. Also, try doing a backup with just 1 drive selected (omit the registry, etc) and see if this helps to also pinpoint your problems.

Let me know how you make out.
