PLEASE EXPLAIN...DOCUMENT ROOT

I have heard so many times about this and stil cannot get the picture..what is document root.

Document Root is the path given to apache and where your web path is.
 
DocumentRoot is the 'physical' location on the filesystem that the webserver uses for the root of the website in question. A common place for it is /var/ That means if a site named is served from your server, and you point your browser at the webserver will serve up the index file, or a directory listing (if allowed) from /var/ (common is /var/ It's a bit different for virtual hosts. There's a nice example of virtual host configuration in faq65-1831 (part of the Apache forum at Forum65).
