Please help I am currently trying to resolve a few Windows98 problems ( I'm not too fond of it as I was brought up on Macs).
Recently Windows Media player and Winamp have both stopped playing back .mpg files properly (sound plays but picture appears as a very thin line at the right hand side of the window), I recently installed BeOS personal edition 5 on my machine and the problem has occurred since then. The media player in BeOS doesn't play the files properly either (the sound is a couple of seconds ahead of the picture). I was wondering if the BeOS media player could have corrupted my mpg files.
Anyway I have searched the web extensively for solutions to no avail. Any suggestions or help from others who have experienced similar problems is apreciated

I have been experciencing the same problem you have been with winamp and media player and I have come to the conclusion that the playback is not any good, because it is muffled and frezzes for a few seconds. But may I suggest that you go and download real player it is really good, and you good get a lot of use out of it.

Sorry to hear about the MACs, no child should be put through that in humane torture.

As for your porno, I mean your MPGs. If you look at:

Open explorer
View
Options
File Types Find MPEG in the list and make sure you are using

"C:\Program Files\Windows MediaPlayer\mplayer2.exe" /Play "%L"

To play your files. If it's been changed try putting that back in and let us know.

ive never noticed any considerable diff between real player and media player, other than the spyware in real player,
but if they are corrupted, reinstall them, and let it take back control of the .mpgs, etc, and it shld be fine
