playing Movies ****.HR.HDTV.AC3.5.1.XviD-442.avi files

I have downloaded Smallville.S05E01.Arrival.HR.HDTV.AC3.5.1.XviD-442.avi from a bittorrent and it doesnt want to play on quicktime or VLC. I've missed the show on TV.

Since upgrading to OS 10.4 I've been having trouble playing xvid.fov.avi files, and downloading codecs. What kind of codec do i need ...? i have all codec for divx, xvid and ac3

QT gives me this : QuickTime cannot open the file :'Smallville s05e01.avi" an unknow error occurred (-50)

Please help me with this. I've been having this trouble for MANY files lately and 10.4 is dissapointing me.

Just google for the various divx codec packages out there and try a new one.

Occassionally you'll get a bad file. Have you confirmed that you can play this file on PC?
