At this point,this just a concept for a small personal sports site. Would you please steer me towards a resource that could explain the process and give examples of assigning files to radio buttons then playing that file in an embeded media player. Just dipping my fingertips into web pages. I would like to avoid java if I can. The web site is currently made up from FrontPage 2008.

I assume you mean Javascript, as [red]Java[/red] is a completely different beast.
However, since HTML is by nature static, you'll have little choice but to use Javasscript. As most players are based on Javascript code in some fashion.
You may get away with using Vbscript to manage the player.
Anyway, your first task is t choose a player to embed, based on that will be how to interact with it.

Another option is to use a flash based player. There are many flash based players that can play a multitude of different media formats.
