My setup is a 2003 Windows Server with Exchange 2003. I've been asked to track one of our employees outgoing emails, what's the best way of doing this, other than going to the employess laptop and clicking on their "sent" items?

thanks for the help!

ok, i came up with a solution, we are using a barracuda firewall for incoming spam, spoke with barracuda and i can forward all outgoing mail to the barracuda, which will log all mail and problem solved. Where do I go to forward all outgoing mail in exchange?

You'll need the SMTP virtual server in Exchange System Manager. The Barra needs to then forward it on so that it acts as a conduit for logging.

Why wouldn't you use the built-in Exchange tracking logs?

Or does the Barracuda provide more detail?

Neill

I thought about suggesting the Exchange logs but they are just that - logs. The actually reporting needs to be third party which costs money. The Barra gives reports which should be sufficient AND barring the config, is a free solution in this instance.
