How can I play a an avi movie in flash.
When I import the movie I get no errors.
Do I have to convert from .avi to .mov?
Or is there a way to play this through actions?
Please help me!

Yeah, I'd like to know how to play a real media file from a flash button ... if someone could respond to this that would be awesome. I am trying to make a flash menu thing for a multimedia cd.

Can't play from within Flash environment. You could link to an external file, and pop it up in a new window. This problem needs to be solved, hopefully Flash 6 will address this problem.

So dD? Are you back from work? I'm really interested in for your solution!

;-)

dD - That is exactly what I'm looking for. Where are you!
Your about the only one I've talked to that knows how to do this!

Sorry Folks,
PC crashed big-time after trying to load someone elses corrupt Fla 5 file last night so didn't get a chance to post.

Anyway, to get the avi in to the flash isn't as easy as pointing and shooting with an action, yet. To get my avi files in I broke them down into their frames using JASC Animation Shop (the same guys that make Paint Shop Pro, I think you can get a trial shareware version of this on the net). You then save these seperate frames in a batch as image files. When you import the first image of the series into you're movie, Flash automatically inserts the rest, creating a frame-by-frame avi equivalent.

Can you guys give me e-mail addresses so that I can get the ".fla" file to you?
