I have a NEAX 2400 ICS with Dterm Series E phones. Here is the scenario:

A call-center agent is calling a person to provide information about upcoming events. Encounters an answering machine. I want the following to happen at this point:
The caller presses a button on his phone. With that, a pre-recorded message is being played to the answering machine, while the caller gets new dial tone and can call the next person.

I got as far as the caller transferring the call into an announcement trunk, but it takes about 4 seconds, and the asnwering machine records the music-on-hold for that 4 seconds. Is there a faster, more direct way of transferring? If needed, I can purchase a computer, some additional hardware to do this (I heard the word: "dialogic" before...), but I don't even know where to start.

Anybody with ideas?

Why are you waiting till the answering machine greeting has finished before transferring? Surely most answering machines have a much longer than 4 second greeting simply put something at the beginning of the message that you don't care if they miss and you can transfer to message early.
