Playback problems

After I build a project in premiere, the first few times I play through it, a little ways in it always starts to play at about 5x speed and continues with this all the way through the project. It gets very time consuming to export long projects because I have to play throught them about 4 times before they can run through the entire project without speeding up. I have a 2 Ghz processor with 512 RAM, so I don't think it is my computers fault. Has anybody experienced this problem and how do I solve it.
