I have a hardware device that will send a SIP message to our Mitel 500 PBX simulating a phone dialing an extension. All it does is dial the extension and then hangs up. I would like to use this to play a prerecorded message over our PA system.
The scenario is this...
I have a button in my front office area. When a customer arrives, they will press the button. The device sends a SIP message to our Mitel 5000 emulating a phone extension picking up, dialing a local extension number and then hanging up. The Mitel PBX will then play one of its recorded messages over the PA system. In this example, the recording would say something like "There is a visitor in the front office."
It would be just as if I had picked up the phone in my office and dialed a specific extension, say 712. The PBX would be programmed so if someone dialed extension 712, it would play one of the recorded messages over the PBX (which on our system is extension 9600).
I am not an expert with the PBX by any means. A friend of mine suggested I post a message on this board to see if anyone out there knew of a way to do this.
If the Mitel PBX doesn't have this capability or feature but you know of another way of doing this (using SIP), please let me know.
Thanks for your help with this.
John
