Trying to correct a configuration problem when interfacing a Wescom (3657) PLAR card to Meridian trunk. Basically the circuit is an auto ringdown between 2 sites. It worked well on the old key system but when trying to interface with Meridian it is having some problems staying connected.

Does anyone have TN info on how to connect this? My current problem is that the NRD TIMR setting in the route is disconnecting the trunk before someone answers it, looks like it does not like the signalling coming from the Wescom.

Monk, if this is the Peoria Police line you posted about last week, I noticed the values in the TIMR section are off the charts - that may be because you typed them into Tek-Tips wrong (better to copy and paste)

What I'd do in this case is start from scratch...but it will be easy if this trunk is the only one in the route.

Out the Trunk first - then out the route. Then rebuild the route taking every default value you can...just respond to entries that need a response.

Then build the trunk the same way. All defaults.

If your old key system worked fine, then you can get the Meridian 1 to work fine too.

GH,

That was a cut paste.

The TIMR settings were made by Blackbox (Nortel) Techs, it is the only way to get maximum ring time from the trunk before it disconnects. Defaults don't work, some kind of signalling problem in the T-1, we have the Wescom going to ADTRAN D4 converting them back to T-1 format into a Dual T-1 card in Meridian. Notice digital trunk in config. All the ringdowns have separate routes and are the only members in the route, 1 route, 1 trunk, 1 member.

Problem:

Peoria initiates call, it rings here 6 times before disconnect when NRD TIMR set at 32 sec vs default 10 sec (2 rings). If agent does not pick up within the allotted time the trunk disconnects on our end but does not on Peoria side--continues to ring indefinitely. If they pickup -- call is continued.

Nortel Answer-- we don't support this config. Unfortunately it comes after 2 years from install, problem was not recognized till some complaints from PD's indicating we were not always answering thier calls.

One answer I am tracking is to move them out of T-1 boards into EXUT boards connecting the analog from the Wescom boards at which time common defaults would possibly work, looking for parameters of a good working circuit someone might have out there using PLAR connections. That said, we have over 225 circuits like this. Majority are going into ACD, 22 are not and placed on individual buttons, these are my problem children since someone has to actually pick up the phone to answer.

Any suggestions?

Have talked to Wescom, Adtran, and Blackbox.

The Meridian is the one definitely cutting the trunk off, a lot of testing has been done before I got involved without resolve.

Have tried several configurations in the Wescom, even hooked the trunk into another switch (Erricson-Our City Switch vs. the 911 switch) -- It worked through the Ericsson-- Ericsson does not have a time out on thier trunks.

GH,

Thought I would follow up with what I found and will eventually solve this problem.

1. You were right in one aspect it was not the Meridian on the the T-1 side, the ADTRAN's were not sending up the correct signalling bits after the first ring, the reason they were not sending the signalling bits after the 1st ring is that the WESCOM ringing generator was putting out a 20hz sq wave that the ADTRAN's FXO's do not like (works ok for key systems, phones, Ericsson switch but not for ADTRAN cards). Without the signalling bits the Meridian was treating this as a dropped call starting the NRD Timer.

2. When supplying this same WESCOM ringing up to the Meridian Analog port (EXUT card)the Meridian also rejected the 20 Hz Sq wave. Ericsson was OK.

Fix was to replace all channel bank ringing generators with a sinusoidal wave vs sq wave.

In your experiences have you ever ran into this?
