Hi all,

We are having a problem getting Plantronics HW251 headsets working correctly on some of our 5324's.

When making/receiving calls, the speaker in the headset works correctly, but the micropohone is not working.

Headset buttons have been correctly configured, the headsets are pluged into the correct ports, and the mute button is off.

I can't find any other settings that would control microphone volume etc.

Any ideas??

Need to confirm "correct ports"

Amplified headsets plug into the handset port with the handset plugged into the headset amplifier. Basically, if the headset comes with a piece that has a jack for the handset, it plugs into the handset port

By 'correct ports' I mean that the headset is plugged into the headset port, and the handset is plugged into the handset port. If these are reversed, there is no audio with the headset button selected, and the set reverts to speakerphone if deselected.

Really twisting my melon, as we have one phone that works correctly, allowing us confirm that headsets/cables are working correctly.

I thought it would be clear from my earlier post but I guess not

Is the headset 1 piece - direct from phone to head

Or is it 2 piece including an amplifier

It matters

Have you tried pressing the up arrow key whilst on a call?

Also, the polarity on the headset cord can be different so the speaker will work but the microphone wont.

Sometimes the microphone polarity is reversed.

Thanks for your help so far guys

It's a one piece - direct from phone to head - no amplifier.

Pressing the up key whilst on the line using the headset increases the speaker volume, but still nothing through the microphone.

Not sure how to check the polarity of the cord - as far as I know the Plantronics sets use a clipping mechanism that only allows them to be plugged in one way, and the headset works perfectly well on another 5324 that we have in the office.
